A message to Lt. Pike of UC Davis Police

Uploaded by on Nov 20, 2011

Dear Lt. John Pike of the UCD Police,

We think these photos look very familiar to you, you are the pepper spraying officer.
We think you know better than the people who weren't there what was going on, but everyone can see that these persons were unarmed, non-violent protesters, who were holding a sit-in, which basically means that you sit down with a group as a form of protest.
The use of pepper spray and violence is never accepted, especially not when used against non-violent protesters who stand up for their rights. Your reaction may be that you felt threatened by the protesters but I've never seen a person who felt threatened by people who were just sitting down.
In theory, the law is still applicable on you so here's a quote from the California Penal Code:

California Penal Code Section 12403.7 (a) (8)
"(g) Any person who uses tear gas or tear gas weapons except in self-defense is guilty of a public offense and is punishable by imprisonment in a state prison for 16 months, or two or three years or in a county jail not to exceed one year or by a fine not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment, except that, if the use is against a peace officer, as defined in Chapter 4.5 (commencing with Section 830) of Title 3 of Part 2, engaged in the performance of his or her official duties and the person committing the offense knows or reasonably should know that the victim is a peace officer, the offense is punishable by imprisonment in a state prison for 16 months or two or three years or by a fine of one thousand dollars ($1,000), or by both the fine and imprisonment."

The law is clear and we, Anonymous have been sending formal complaints and will continue to do so in the future. We also warn you, if you or the rest of the UCD Police continue to use mindless violence on peaceful protesters, more severe countermeasures shall follow.

We are Anonymous. We are Legion. We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us.

Circular arguments and juvenile name calling started in the comments section will only demonstrate the intellectual bankruptcy of the commenter.
